Morus Alba (Moraceae) popularly knew as ‘Tutam’ in Sanskrit. The tree is moderate in size, up to 3m high 1.8m in girth. That has been widely used as astringent, anthelmentics & purgative. Nevertheless the available scientific information is very less about this species and related to its possible effect. In this work, methanolic extract of leaves of M.alba were evaluated in experimental animal using different models. The extract (300 mg/kg) was tested for its anti-diarrheal activity. The induction of increase motility by castor oil, gastrointestinal motility in rats.LD50 values were established and 1/5 dose of the methanolic extract. Antidiarrhoeal potential of extracts was evidenced by significant (p<0.001) reduction in fecal output in castor oil induced diarrhea and also a significant (p<0.001) decrease in propulsive movement of gastrointestinal contents.
